private investigator was hired by a company to determine
who the company thief was. Things were being stolen over
and over again from the staff room. They had a suspect,
but no proof. When a wallet was stolen, it was found half
and hour later with its contents removed. The private investigator
sealed the wallet up as evidence, sent it to Paragon Genetics
where our laboratory performed swab tests on the wallet to recover any
DNA profiles from it. We managed to do this and had a couple
of clear DNA profiles. One was determined to be that of
the original wallet owner and the other showed a different
DNA profile. The investigator also was able to acquire a
glass that the suspect had just drank from and he sent that
glass to Paragon to get a DNA profile of the suspect.
Paragon
successfully determined that the DNA profile from the glass
was the same profile as that recovered from the stolen wallet.
The results were then turned over to the investigation and
the company took the appropriate steps with the suspect.
